Nucamp Coding Bootcamp Curriculum Changes

What's Changing, When It Goes Live, And What It Means For You

What's the number ONE thing I've heard from interviewing over 80 students who've landed jobs after graduating from Nucamp?

In fact, I've heard it so much that I've modified my interview questions for Front End and Full Stack graduates to accommodate it.

At the end of every interview, I ask graduates, "Imagine you have a friend who signed up for the Front End or Full Stack bootcamp, they just finished Bootstrap, and they're about to start React. What advice would you give them?"

They all say something along the lines of "keep going," "don't give up," and/or "spend some time learning JavaScript."

That last one though. That's a signal to something important and we took that to heart.

At Nucamp, we're constantly adding, updating, and improving our curriculum so that we can give you the best experience possible, help you gain confidence as a web developer, and learn the most vital, job-relevant technologies.

Most recently, we added Google Cloud content to our Front End and Full Stack bootcamps in order to meet the growing demand for cloud services, extending our cloud curriculum that was previously only in the Backend with SQL, Python, and DevOps bootcamp.

Today, we're announcing a change to the Web Development Fundamentals, Front End, and Full Stack bootcamps—and it's all related.

Front End And Full Stack Bootcamp Changes

  • Bootstrap is being removed
  • In its place, a full 5 weeks of JavaScript will be added

Why This Change?

It goes back to the feedback we've received: students want more JavaScript before diving into React and React Native, which are more advanced JavaScript frameworks.

What Does This Mean For You?

By having a full 5-weeks of JavaScript, you are going to be eating, drinking, and sleeping JavaScript. You're going to be writing for loops in your sleep. We want to give you maximum confidence with JavaScript, React, and React Native so that you can be job ready when graduation comes.

What about Bootstrap though?

Web Development Fundamentals Changes

  • JavaScript is being removed
  • In its place, Bootstrap (with some JavaScript) will be added

Why This Change?

Once we saw it, it actually just made sense to have the two topics trade places.

By moving Bootstrap to the end of the Web Development Fundamentals bootcamp, students will have the opportunity to build functional, mobile-responsive websites by the time they finish.

What Does This Mean For You?

We're all about the real world benefits here at Nucamp. In other words, what is actually going to help you in your journey, help you take the next step, help you to land a job?

The new Web Development Fundamentals bootcamp will give you marketable skills right out of the gate, skills that are actually usable, skills that will enable you to build something tangible that you can look at and say "yeah, I built that," so that you can immediately start freelancing or looking for work while you continue your coding journey.

When Do These Changes Take Effect?

  • Web Development Fundamentals: The bootcamp that begins June 5, 2023 and all thereafter will no longer cover JavaScript, but instead cover Bootstrap.
  • Front End and Full Stack bootcamps: The bootcamps that begin July 24, 2023 and all thereafter will no longer cover Bootstrap, but instead cover JavaScript.

Questions You Might Have

I've already registered for a bootcamp under the old curriculum. Can I change my start date so that I can take the bootcamp with the new curriculum?

Yes, please reach out to studentadmin@nucamp.co and we can help you process a reschedule.

I completed the material in the past. Will I get access to the updated curriculum?

Yes. If you have taken Web Development Fundamentals, you will see an enrollment key at the end of the old curriculum that you may use to add the new version of the curriculum to your account.

If you have taken the Front End or Full Stack bootcamp that covered Bootstrap, you will see an enrollment key at the end of the old Bootstrap course that you may use to add the new JavaScript course to your account.

I completed the material in the past. Will I still have access to the old curriculum?

Yes.
