How to get out of coding tutorial hell

How he escaped coding "tutorial hell", and how you can too!

Many people find themselves in jobs that leave them feeling unfulfilled and unhappy.

Maybe this is you.

Maybe you didn’t feel that way when you first started your job, but despite your best efforts now you can’t seem to shake the feeling that you are meant for something more.

This is a feeling many of us can relate to, but what can you do when you find yourself in a job you dislike?

How do you break free from the cycle and find work that brings you joy and fulfillment?

One person who faced a similar situation was Mohammed Mansour.

Regardless of having a stable job and a decent income, he found himself feeling restless and unfulfilled.

Mohammed knew he needed a change, but he didn't know where to start or what direction to take.

So, how did he pave himself a path from a job he disliked to a career that brought him purpose and joy?

Before starting his journey into coding, Mohammed felt that what he was doing didn't have a meaningful impact and wouldn't create any real change in the world.

He worked in production, color coding 3D models for surgical robots.

While he knew that his job was helping people, he didn't feel like he was making anything of his own.

One day, Mohammed stumbled upon a YouTube video that would change his life.

The video was by Clever Programmer's Quazi, who introduced Mohammed to HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

He found it easy to understand and became fascinated with coding.

The very next day, Mohammed downloaded Visual Studio Code, started watching more videos, and was all in.

After 6 months of watching coding videos, Mohammed was trapped in what we like to call “tutorial hell”.

Continually taking in information, but not progressing toward your goal.

Mohammed realized he needed a structured learning environment and decided to enroll in a coding bootcamp.

He was looking for a bootcamp that was flexible and online that would complement his 12-hour, night shift work.

After researching and comparing different bootcamps, Mohammed ultimately chose Nucamp because of its hybrid learning model and affordable price.

He signed up for the Wed Development Fundamentals Bookcamp and later took the Full Stack Bootcamp, graduating in July 2022.

During his time at Nucamp, Mohammed found the instructors to be knowledgeable and helpful.

He appreciated that his first instructor not only taught him the basics, but also helped him apply it to real-world scenarios.

Mohammed was also impressed with his Bootstrap instructor, who assured him that he would be able to create his own projects after two weeks of practice.

Mohammed was doubtful at first, but as time went on, things started to click into place for him, proving his instructor right.

Like many new developers, Mohammed struggled with the inevitable imposter syndrome, feeling like he wasn't qualified or knowledgeable enough to be a developer.

However, he found that going to the gym and ignoring those thoughts helped him overcome them.

He also reminded himself that he didn't get to where he was by chance or luck but by his hard work and dedication.

After completing the bootcamp, Mohammed began his job search.

He mostly used LinkedIn to apply for jobs and found that many companies were reaching out to him through recruiters.

However, he had to be careful, as some recruiters were dishonest and would lie on resumes.

Eventually, he landed a job through a placement agency Strategio, where he learned AWS and DevOps before being deployed to work with other companies.

Now he is currently working with TD Bank.

Without a doubt, Mohammed made an excellent decision to enroll in Nucamp's bootcamp to pull himself out of "tutorial hell" and into a developer role!

So, what are you waiting for?

“If you're considering a career in tech, try at least Nucamp’s Web Development Fundamentals. Do a test run. If it’s something you are interested in, continue, you won’t regret it at all.”
