Planning for a career in tech after the military doesn’t have to be hard: let Nucamp and Skillbridge help.

Leaving the military and wanting to transfer into the tech industry?    

Well, the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge program is way ahead of you.  

Skillbridge provides – wait for it – a bridge, from military service to training and jobs in the civilian workforce.

Many servicemembers want to pursue training in coding and software development during the transition away from active duty. 

Nucamp is happy to participate in the Skillbridge program, which allows service members to gain valuable industry training during the last 180 days of their military service. 

The program connects service members with industry partners, including Nucamp, for career training that opens opportunities in a variety of fields.

Eligibility for Students 

Service members who have 180 days or fewer of service remaining prior to their date of military discharge are eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program with Nucamp. See official program details here. This program is an excellent opportunity for those planning for their career in tech after the military.  


When to Apply 

Depending on your situation, there’s a lot to do: determining whether or not you are returning to your home of record, your travel advance if applicable, whether you will continue receiving BAH, taking terminal leave or selling back your unused leave, etc.  

So don’t wait too long to start the process – help your admin or personnel support department by starting as early as possible. A year in advance is a good idea if possible. 

 

Steps to Enter 

Here’s what you can do to get onto your tech transition pathway:  
 

  1. Review Information: Interested service members should visit the DoD SkillBridge website to learn more about program eligibility requirements, industry partners/employers, commands and installation offices.  
  2. Application Process Guidance: Contact your installation's transition support/transition assistance office as soon as possible.
  3. Seek Commander Approval: You can receive up to 180 days of permissive duty with approval from your unit commander, allowing you to focus solely on training with approved industry partners. Request a copy of our Skillbridge Training Plan via studentadmin@nucamp.co -- once you have decided the bootcamp(s) you would like, we will be happy to provide an approval letter if needed by your command.
  4. Register for your bootcamp: Return to this site (Nucamp.co) and select your course, then click "Register"!
  5. Scholarships: Once registered, take advantage of our Warrior Rising scholarship available for all military personnel.
