JFFLab's selects Nucamp as an Innovator to Watch as a high-quality, nondegree, affordable education option.

High-quality nondegree education and training options will play an instrumental role in the country's economic recovery

"Nucamp stands out for its commitment to offering effective and affordable training. The company keeps tuition low by taking steps to curb its own costs."

JFFLab's June 2021 Market Scan takes a deep dive into the complex and evolving alternative education and training market, with a focus on opportunities that have a measurable impact on workers' wages and employment options.

JFF submits that the selected providers of these alternative programs are crucial resources for employers to recruit, develop, and retain workers from diverse talent pools and that these providers make up an ecosystem of opportunity that workers can leverage as they navigate their careers.

Our economy needs workers ready for today's demands as well as acquire skills that will be in demand for the coming decade.

Innovative providers are emerging and differentiating themselves by treating learning as a personalized experience that meets adult learners both where they are and where employers need their workers to be, creating the conditions for deeply internalized learning, durable skill development, and economic mobility.

Nondegree training and education programs represent an effective alternative to four-year colleges in order to meet these demands.

By enabling workers to build employability skills, acquire specialized expertise needed in emerging industries, and engage in lifelong learning, the new training infrastructure creates pathways fulfilling family—and community—sustaining careers.

Given the number of workers displaced and businesses disrupted by the pandemic, we think a reliable network of providers of high-quality nondegree education and training options will play an instrumental role in the country’s economic recovery.

In selecting Nucamp as an Innovator to Watch, an example's cited by JFF was that Nucamp keeps costs low by using technology to automate administrative processes, such as scheduling, rents space for in-person learning only on weekends, and hires instructors on a part-time basis, most of whom work full time in the industry.

The average cost of a full-time coding bootcamp is $13,000, which more closely resembles the pricing of a 4-year college whereas Nucamp has kept costs under $2,000 for all of their full time bootcamps.

In addition, JFF points to how we avoid diluting the quality of our bootcamps by using our own curriculum, monitoring students' experiences on a week-to-week basis, providing coaching to instructors, and holding ourselves accountable with a real-time dashboard that reflects graduate survey results.

We are honored that JFFLabs would select Nucamp as an Innovator to Watch and we are committed to our mission to make affordable coding education more attainable.
