When the way you're learning to code feels bugged

From Flight Lead to React Native Developer, FlowTrac
"When I saw Nucamp, the price was upfront and clear. I saw the curriculum and structure laid out for me. It was reasonable and agreeable. I took a shot and I've literally doubled my salary since graduating."
This is Brian Payne, a Nucamp Full Stack Bootcamp graduate and now a React Native Developer at FlowTrac.
Brian likes learning new things and enjoys spending his free time tinkering with code; he is especially interested in automation.
Before the pandemic Brian was a bartender and was sadly let go when the service industry took a turn for the worst.
He wanted to find a recession-and-pandemic-proof path to avoid another similar pitfall.
Seeing how online shopping was steadily growing, tech or logistics seemed like the best choices to pursue.
He began teaching himself to code by day and working for FedEx at night.
He was able to get the foundation for web development from YouTube, but his knowledge lacked the structure to bring it all together.
Brian started to investigate coding bootcamps and realized most were extremely expensive and some wouldn't even allow him to keep his job while attending.
It was off-putting to him that some bootcamps required a phone call first before divulging the actual cost.
When he came across Nucamp he was surprised to find that the price was upfront and clear.
The curriculum and structure were accessible ahead of time so he could decide if it was the right coding bootcamp for him.
After all his research into coding bootcamps, he confidently chose Nucamp and since graduating, he doubled his salary!
"Goals really do matter. If you don't set a goal, you'll have no idea the direction you're going in. I set a few goals a long time ago and recently looked back–I reached them! Now it's time to start setting some new ones. Know what you want to do, why you want to do it, and don't forget why."
Describe your job search process.
Brian started his job search during his Nucamp coding bootcamp.
He was curious as to what the salary range was in his local market and the company he is currently with, FlowTrac, caught his eye.
They create software for warehouse tracking and inventory, and since he was already within the logistics industry at FedEx he thought it would be the perfect transition.
Preparing for the post-graduation job search, reached out to FlowTrac, before graduatting, to see if a Nucamp graduate with MERN stack experience would be a good fit.
To his surprise he got an interview!
He nailed that and the technical interview and realized he had built it up to be a lot more difficult in his mind than it really was.
What advice do you have for people who are thinking about attending a bootcamp, but haven't yet registered?
"First of all, take the JavaScript provided on the Nucamp website to see if you are ready for the Full Stack Bootcamp. Don't make it harder than it is. If you find out that you're lacking a little bit, brush up and move forward."
