From Business and Sales Consultant to Web Specialist, GoDaddy Inc.
"Driving towards a new career path was mandatory for me. Nucamp made it possible."
This is Emeke Nwadiogbu, a Nucamp Bootcamp graduate and now a Web Specialist at GoDaddy Inc.
When he's not coding, he likes to read, cook, and stay physically active.
Having played division 1 football at Oregon State University, he knows the value of sticking with a program to achieve results.
Emeke has spent the last 14 years working in sales and doing video production on the side, but sales was emotionally encroaching and unpredictable.
Often he had to blitz at the last minute to make quota and it required a mental defensive line just to face the day.
He always liked working in the digital space and when he considered his Dad who worked in aerospace for the same company for decades, Emeke decided to tackle something different.
Emeke had spent a few downs teaching himself HTML, CSS, and Python, but he wanted to gain some extra yardage out of coding.
He found Nucamp on social media and discovered that real people were taking possession of their education and making real career changes and the affordability of the bootcamp provided the opening to get out of the backfield in his career.
What it was like taking a Nucamp Bootcamp
Emeke faced challenges in the React course of the Full Stack Bootcamp, but the instructors were real team players.
Emeke would message the Slack channel for help, sometimes even late at night, and often an instructor would respond within the hour.
At first, it took extra time and effort to work through the material, but soon the bootcamp conditioned him for learning and he became more efficient.
Describe your job search process.
About a month before graduation, he received a call from GoDaddy about a potential sales position, but when he mentioned he was finishing a coding Bootcamp, they called timeout and ended the call within 15 minutes.
An hour later they called back to discuss a role in the Web Development department, which was a conversation that played out over 2 days and eventually led to hiring Emeke.
"Going to work is a breeze now."
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
"Learn how to use resources right away. You're only in competition with yourself."
