From Special Education Educator to IT Support Specialist, InMotion Hosting
"Through this journey I realized I could actually tackle really demanding projects while still working full time."
This is Tanisha Vega, a Nucamp Full Stack Bootcamp graduate and now an IT Support Specialist at InMotion Hosting.
Tanisha has always loved learning new things, helping others, and getting lost in a good book.
Her story begins with her desire to help others—inspiring her to earn a degree in social work, a chapter that lasted 13 years.
However, there wasn't a lot of opportunity in this field and would be sentenced to being underemployed if she stayed.
Ready to turn a page, she wanted to find a sought-after career she could enjoy while still being of service to others.
Her appraisal of in-demand careers led her to coding, which fit her desire to help others and it matched her appreciation of structure.
Since coding was a novel activity to her, she started examining coding bootcamps and saw a lot of positive reviews for Nucamp Coding Bootcamps.
She still was working full time so the flexibility of having online instruction during the week and a weekend workshop fit well with her schedule.
In addition, the affordable price was hard for her to pass up, so she started writing her new chapter with Nucamp.
While attending the coding bootcamp she questioned her ability when it felt too demanding, but reminded herself she was ready to change her life and she was going to push through.
Her determination was the key to her success as she graduated from the Full Stack Bootcamp and began her job search.
"I learned I was a go-getter and I don't give up until I get what I want to achieve."
Describe your job search process.
Tanisha's summarized her application process as a numbers game.
She used job sites such as Monster and Indeed and edited her resume per each job title.
After 10 months of working full time in her previous role and applying to potential jobs, she landed her new IT Support Specialist position.
She now helps people solve web hosting, email or website challenges they may have; bookending her search for a career she can enjoy for a lifetime.
What advice do you have for people who are thinking about attending a bootcamp, but haven't yet registered?
"Start off with the Fundamentals course, because you never know where that could lead you. They're not expensive, so you'll get your value."
What advice do you have for people who have already started the bootcamp and they are just about to finish Bootstrap?
"I've been there. It got to a point that was really difficult. Sometimes you're going to have the imposter syndrome, but keep going and push through no matter what. Sometimes a light bulb will click even a month later."
