WIOA Grant Tuition Assistance Program
Last Updated: March 7th 2023
Is it "Why-Oh-Ah?"
Maybe "Wee-Oh-Wa"
However you say it, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act—(WIOA)—is a big deal.
I'm not sure how you define "big deal," but if getting your Nucamp covered with this tuition assistance program is a big deal to you, then it's a big deal.
If you're eligible, then your tax dollars are coming back to help you out.
These tax-payer funds for the tuition assistance program are distributed by each state to their residents as either job training programs or vocational rehabilitation training.
How does it work?
The student must initiate the request with the appropriate office in their state.
A good place to start would be to click this link or do a simple web search like "Where do I apply for WIOA services in [my city, State]?"
Just to keep things interesting, States have various names for these offices, such as Workforce, WorkSource, CareerLink, CareerBridge, etc.
Your State may require you to connect with a regional office based on your specific location, and you may find yourself clicking through page links to find that first contact person or phone number. But once the conversation has begun, the process is fairly simple and Nucamp will do all we can to work with the State to expedite the outcome. If you do have trouble locating a work counselor in your State, please contact us at studentadmin@nucamp.co, and we will see what we can do to help.
Job Training
Students initiate the request by finding their State’s Workforce office and speaking with a vocational counselor. The counselor will check if Nucamp is on your State’s list of Eligible Training Providers (ETP); if not, your State may be willing to accept Nucamp’s status as an ETP through Washington State, on a case-by-case basis.
Vocational Rehabilitation training
Students start by speaking with a counselor in their State Vocational Rehabilitation office. If Nucamp is not yet a registered vendor in your State, the counselor will contact Nucamp at studentadmin@nucamp.co to being the process of bringing Nucamp on as vendor for rehabilitation vocational training.
Please note that Nucamp students are not eligible for federal FAFSA funding.
